• Liam on Trapeze!!

Liam took a four day trapeze class at summer camp this week. On Friday they put on a performance, here it is, pretty impressive! [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHcrt0UNKjs]

  • Cycling the mickelson trail

Driving back from black hills and the highlight of our trip was definitely cycling over 60 miles of a converted train line for bikes thru the northern black hills over three days.  Lots of great bridges, tunnels and great views

  • Desperados

Not a reflection on these two… but we’re eating out on our last night in hill city at desperados cowboy restaurant. Note the hand hewn logs on the wall by john (oldest hand hewn log construction in south dakota!), blue tinted wood in seat back, due to mountain pine beetle infestation in logs here, and cowboy hat lamp shades.

  • Mickelson trail

Day 2 of the mickelsn trail, all smiles because the terrain has turned downhill for the 9 miles into hill city.

  • Espresso stand in custer

We love this little espresso stand in custer, sd! It’s drive through and walk up only, no going inside. Check out the lovely smoothies they made for the boys!

  • Seth bullock grave

We visited the wild west town of deadwood today. It’s a really odd combination of a small version of vegas and an old mining town. As fans of the hbo show ‘deadwood’, john and I were fascinatedby a few historical sites. In particular, seth bullock, first mayor of deadwood, is buried way up above the town and cemetery, with a lovely view an rather elevated existence. Wild bill hickock and calamity jane are buried in the cemetery.
