  • Visits to and from Chicago

So the fall semester is not over and I still have 2 big projects due… but on the bright side I finished my freelance cataloging project (yesterday) and one class (last week)! A catch-up blog post is in order, on a topic other than gardening and hair. Back in October, we visited the Garfield Park Conservatory with the Kennys. This “Granddad and Liam on bridge” shot was taken to contrast with an archival Cindy & the Kennymen photo from 3 years ago: http://cndkmen.wordpress.com/2008/09/23/kenny-visit/ Fast forward to last weekend, when we had a great trip to Kansas City for Thanksgiving! Highlights…

  • planting garlic, harvesting some surprise carrots

Yesterday I did a bit of much needed tending to the garden. I needed to get the Chesnok Red hardneck garlic from Hood River Garlic into the ground before it got too cold. While digging around, I discovered a crop of carrots that I had given up on! I planted these seeds a few months ago and their foliage blended in with the parsley. • Marilyn in Chicago

We were downtown today and finally got a chance to see the very popular Marilyn Monroe statute.  Lots of folks lining up to be photographed under it from all over the world

  • lovely Milwaukee

We had a lovely trip to Milwaukee with the Kennys this last weekend. The weather was absolutely stunning and unseasonably warm, in the mid 70s. The wings opening on the art museum were a big hit. Readers who are making wedding plans may be interested in the location for photos– we saw about 5 bridal parties there at about 5pm on Saturday! After a great dinner at the Comet diner, we went back to our hotel. On Sunday, we walked on the river walk and around the historic 3rd ward and stopped in at boutiques, the public market and an…

  • Miles at cross country meet

Despite being chosen for the team as an alternate, miles did awesome in his first city meet on the newberry team.  Over a one mile course he came in 21 out of 100.  Awesome job!

  • Sports stars

We went bowling last weekend and John was really on fire. Kennymen sports success continued this week when Miles became a member of his school cross country team! yay Miles! Practice starts next week.
