We later heard these animals can run 30mph+ and leap 10 foot fences! This herd was reintroduced to the park after near extinction in north america!

A herd of bison by the roaring badlands

the native lakota people called this place paradise, seemingly someone did a really poor job translating that into ‘badlands’.

After a long drive through hours of rolling plains we finally arrived in Badlands National Park.  This is the view from behind our campsite

It’s as good as badlands can be! Twittering birds and a lovely still evening. Looking forward to seeing the stars from here tonight!

We started our trip getting to Minnesota, seven hours of driving, and a quick stop at a rest stop overlooking a dam on the Mississippi.
