New York – Maddie’s concert

After a rest back at the hotel, we got dressed for dinner and Maddie’s choir concert. We ubered as a group uptown to the Carnegie Diner right across from Carnegie Hall and had a very nice dinner in a fun atmosphere.

Then we walked over to the concert hall, which I hadn’t been inside before. It’s really beautiful inside, and we had great box seats (thanks, Debbie!)

We spotted Maddie in the seating below, where here group was positioned so they’d be ready to go on stage.

Four choirs performed as part of the program – one choir had students from a college, and the other three were children’s choirs from different parts of the US. The program allowed them to not only sing in such an amazing venue, but also they learned new songs and sang them with the other choirs which was very impressive! The singing was really wonderful, excellent job everyone!

Maddie was part of a small group who came forward to sing part of a song – well done! So proud of you!

After the concert, we went over to where the kids were all congregating in front of their hotel to chat a bit and take a few photos.

Then Maddie and friends went out for ice cream and we returned to the Carnegie Diner for dessert, then caught an uber back downtown. Jeff requested the route through Times Square so we could all take it in. It was as packed as always! Very intense! The photo doesn’t capture all the people but the ad is kinda funny, about both teams having fun.

Then off to bed before our last day!

  1. We were so proud of Maddie! One of our family was going to sing!
Your post brings back the grandeur of Carnegie Hall, the beauty of the place, and the red velvet seats! They even had an enormous bowl of Ricola Original throat drops and invited us to take some in case we might feel a cough coming on. One would not want to cough during a performance at Carnegie Hall!
There were items in the gift shop, many of them red; for example a red bistro mug with the words in white: PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. That’s what it takes to get to Carnegie Hall.
