New York: Day 4

The Debbie / Jeff / Jackie group had an earlier flight back to Chicago on Sunday, so after we all had some breakfast roughly at the same time, they headed to the airport and mom and I took the subway all the way downtown to the Staten Island Ferry pier. We were fortified after eating a very plentiful bagels and smoked salmon breakfast.

The subway station had interesting tiles with different tree themes.

It was very easy to walk over to the ferry, and we boarded and headed out on the Hudson River, into the bay. The Statue of Liberty is very clearly visible from the ferry, and the breeze out on the water felt very nice!

We took the ferry back again, and in fact that was when we had the best view of the Statue of Liberty. Then we took the subway back to the hotel, picked up our suitcases and headed out to the airport in the car provided as part of the hotel package. Extra excitement was that the NYC Pride Parade was also going on at the same time and our driver had to use both some ingenuity and patience to get out of the couple of blocks that were very clogged with traffic. After that it was very smooth sailing all the way back home. Great trip, everyone! We love New York!

  1. My winter head was confused by the reference to a nice breeze bit of course that would be good in summer!! Looks like a fun trip all round

  2. What a great trip to New York for everyone and of course the highlight was Maddy singing with her choir In Carnegie Hall, sure, she will never forget itπŸ‘πŸ’•

  3. Oh Lady Liberty! She stands tall and silent, holding her torch aloft with her strong arm. She is what she is, no excuses. She is a symbol of hope, even when America falls short.
I’m so very glad I got to see her.
And by the way, the lox and bagels tasted so good!
