Sawyer Renovations

Last year, most of our work on the house in Sawyer was really about fixing basic things like the heating system and the chimney. But this year we got to work on some more fun things; jazzing up the look of the kitchen and getting some comfortable furniture for the living room (the previous owner, had used the house for Airbnb rentals, and so while the furniture was very durable, you would definitely get uncomfortable after a while, sitting in it!).

The kitchen itself was really pretty minimal, just replacing the old dark green formica countertop with a white quartz one, replacing the sink, and then removing the old appliances, including a huge microwave over the stove, and replacing them with some new appliances that match the existing cabinets.

Before
After!

Many thanks to Geoff Grove who helped with the ceiling fan, which is something that’s nearly impossible to do by yourself!

The before! (the post it notes were to help map out where the new furniture would go)
All gone! (You can see the new tv set up in the side room
The afters!

What’s really nice? Is it centers the whole room on the fireplace which is very cozy at night (we moved the TV into the small side room)
