Lake up close Living room pic Lake far away We took a long walk today seeing a lovely lake up close and them far away along with a scene i swear we used to have in my parents living room.

We were all very excited to have Liam return home, but no one was more excited than Miles who insisted that he get to hug Liam first. Here’s a picture of Liam just off the bus.

We returned to our much loved Matthieson State Park this weekend to find that, again, the weather down in the dells was a complete surprise. A cloud was down in the canyon, and there was misty air swirling around everywhere, particularly stunning in the shafts of light that came down through the trees. We were able to walk all the way to the back waterfall on the upper dells, something we haven’t been able to do since a hard freeze several years ago enabled us to walk there across the ice. It was so hot, we didn’t mind getting wet…

Both Miles and Liam have been playing in our local soccer league two evenings a week. Here’s a nice video of Miles saving a crucial shot that would have lost his team the match. It’s funny how he relives the action a few moments later! The game ended a few moments later 3-3 tie. Way to go Miles! Download miles_saves.mp4

Liam and I are now Penniped Pals. At the Newberry auction in the spring I successfully bid on the Wild Adventure at Brookfield Zoo, so today we went on this adventure. We visited the Pennipeds, which are sea mammels with feathery or webbed feet, such as seals, sea lions and walruses. Our adventure included seeing the dolphin show, then a behind-the-scenes tour of the Penniped area. We peeked inside the animals’ kitchen, which contained huge stainless steel refrigerators full of fish! The biggest sea lion eats 15 pounds of fish per feeding, and he’s fed 3 times a day. We…
