New York Day 3

On Saturday, we split into 2 groups and my mom and I headed to Central Park in the subway and Debbie, Jeff and Maddie took an uber to the Met. It was a drizzly day so fortunately we had done a lot more running around the day before!

We had booked a pedicab tour that started near Columbus Circle. Our driver introduced himself as MJ for Michael Jackson, from Tajikistan. Ok! He was very charming and told us a lot about Central Park.

We stopped at this spot for a great view first.

The view and pace was really nice and we enjoyed the ride. We made another stop at the Bethesda Fountain and terrace.

MJ was very taken with John Lennon and he took us to the Dakota Building, where John and Yoko lived and where was John was shot. Liam reminded me that Miles wrote the Encyclopedia Britannica entry about the Dakota!

After the tour, we had lunch then took the subway back to our hotel (stopping by the dry cleaners where the stain wasn’t removed!). But these bird mosaics in the train station were very cool.

  1. The pedi-cab man in Central Park, aka Michael Jackson, pointed out places in Central Park where movies were filmed. “Home Alone” was one he mentioned several times. Meanwhile, I was thinking about places mentioned in books I’ve read, like *The Goldfinch,* *My Name is Lucy Barton,* and currently *Whistler*
I loved riding the Subway! The art on the walls of the platforms was beautiful! It exceeded by expectations by far!

  2. Great observations! A pedicab tour of locations from those books would be really cool. There could be a tour based on J D Salinger books too!
