Yoga

John and I went to yoga at Garfield park conservatory this morning, along with about 120 other people. Really good attendance today!

It was so crowded by the time we arrived that I staked out an unusual spot – between these potted trees. All good while I was sitting, but I did have to work around the branches during standing poses. Stay tuned – a Tribune photographer got a photo of me in this spot so we’ll see if it gets in the paper! You’ll note my mat has Miles’s name on it and is very dirty – it is a hand-me-down from Miles who did yoga at summer camp years ago. And it’s dirty because of my fondness for outdoor and community yoga – tend to be grittier spaces than yoga studios!

After class, we walked through the conservatory, taking in the latest flower show, with big reflective panels in different colors. Ever since the bean, Chicagoans have appreciated selfie opportunities on reflective surfaces!

Catching a cactus in bloom always feels pretty special.

Here’s John on the jungle path in the palm house. The Palm house has been cleared out a lot but still very full of plants!

  1. The Garfield Park Conservatory is such a lovely place to go for yoga! A bit of dirt on your yoga mat is only bringing a bit of the outdoors inside.
