Here we are at Grant Park, huge crowds but it was all very calm and relaxed–I was trying to figure out what the feeling was and I think it was relief and joy, felt at a really fundamental level. This is so good.
Some things the papers may not cover (because they are trivial): there was an odd surfeit of cigar smokers, and the city's street sweepers were really out in force!
Great election results, great night.
Fortunately we had a bottle of something bubbly at home to pop open when we got back at 12:30.

Amazing to be there to see it & Chicago looked great on tv – my whole office was watching everything unfold at a much more civilised time (around 3pm!)
