This could be since we had an 8-week break, but we’re back in Chicago and enjoying the winter season here. Humboldt Park lagoon has been ranging from frozen to half frozen, and people and water birds are venturing out on it. Some people even cleared of a section for hockey (not shown – will try to get a pic with game going on!)
We ordered dinner from Orkenoy last night (thanks for the gift card and recommendation, Sarah!) and it was not only delicious it was a very cozy winter meal! They feature Nordic-inspired cooking, and who knows better how to be celebrate winter? We had the fish stew, a sweet potato and a mushroom open faced sandwich, and crispy Brussels sprouts.
This weekend winter storm Orlena was due to arrive with maybe 7- 8 inches of snow starting Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday. So we went out to Northerly Island earlier today to get a walk in before it hit. It was really beautiful out there, all surrounded by frozen lake.
Driving back north on Lake Shore Drive, we remarked on how the new Jeanne Gang building is looking nearly finished, and what a great view of it from the drive.
