After a lovely week in sawyer, we drove back to Chicago. John headed off on a business trip and I worked a few days while Paddy and Kathleen visited some of their favorite spots like the bean and added some new adventures like taking an architectural boat cruise and – very exclusive opportunity – a tour of Liam’s apartment!
On Friday miles arrived first thing on an overnight flight from the west coast. I had a few days off starting then and John got back on Friday too.

We had a lovely visit to the indoor and outdoor gardens at the Garfield park conservatory. Miles stayed back after a late night out with friends!

On Sunday we took the el downtown to pick up Mary at Union station. We had prep work to do for an afternoon get together with friends here, but we had time to stop by the marathon route and cheer on the runners as they crossed the river and headed west.

On Monday, John worked and we dropped Mary back at Union station then went to the Art Institute. We had a great visit to the grand staircase with both Chicago architecture pieces and a speech by Swami Vivekenandra. Tuesday John and Liam worked and the rest of the group went downtown to see the not-yet-visited Harold Washington library, Monadnock building, and always worth a repeat Uniqlo! No photos but great day! We split up to get miles packed up and so paddy and Kathleen could visit the bean and lake again. Then at 5 we took miles to the el to head back to Portland.

We all worked Weds and Thurs, and Liam came over after work on Wednesday. The last two days of the visit included a walk on the 606 and another visit to favorite cafe and bakery Letizia’s, and some taking in of the Halloween decorations that are going up!

Thursday was lovely out and we all got a few walks in around the neighborhood before the evening flight. We had a great last two weeks, many thanks for the visit!

Great photos and memories of a very pleasant trip to Chicago.
Lovely to meet up with Liam, Bronwin, Miles and friends and see how well they
are all doing. Great to meet Mary aagin too on her quick trip from Naperville.
Thanks to all concerned-really appreciated the wonderful time we had.
