We started the new year with a traditional visit from the Gorskis, in town from Denver to visit Eric’s family over the holidays. Annette, Dave, Nadia and Sylvia regrettably couldn’t make it, since the girls are doing their best to avoid large gatherings of germs this first winter. Liam also had to skip out early, since he had plans to meet some classmates and work on a Macbeth project for his British Literature class. Hope to see everyone next year!
Taking measure was a priority. Will noticed our height marks on the kitchen wall last time he was here and we added his height to the wall. Measuring him on Jan 1, 2013 shows that Will grew 6 inches since his last visit, which took place (or at least was blogged about) on December 31, 2010.
For lunch, we had grilled cheese sandwiches, creamed leeks on walnut bread and tomato soup. Here’s the tomato soup recipe (be sure to use vegetable stock instead of water):
By this time, Will and Ben were very comfortable hanging out with Miles in the basement, where he introduced them to the wonders of Nerf weaponry, or as Ben put it, “shooters.”

Ben’s too big for a diddly-eye bouncy song, but was very into high-fiving with John (blurred because this was also documented by John during the high five.)
Great start to a new year, thanks for coming over Eric, Amber, Will and Ben!

Great soup, great sandwiches, great company! We will be sure to cross-post this on the Brothers Gorski blog. Our guest quarters are available for any Rocky Mountain journeys.
Nice visit with the Gorski family. The tomato soup recipe looks delicious!
