I really don't think I've been up in the Sears Tower since I was about 15. So when we heard that they opened The Ledge on a weekend when we had visitors in, it seemed a good time to go back. Look way up at the top, see the little bumps that look like window washer scaffolds?
Here's a zoomed view. They are glass boxes that have been built to stick out of the building on the 103rd floor. You can go inside the box and look all around. There are 4 "ledges", two to the left and two to the right. The one that is to the far right in this picture is closed –and it is retracted into the building. We went into the one that is by itself in this picture.
Practicing the perfect shot while we wait to get out on the ledge. But practice will not ever compensate for short arms and too much back lighting. It's a wretched host who ruins such a good photo op 🙁
A much easier shot. Liam and Miles would barely venture onto the ledge. It was pretty scary! I'm surprised I did it, I normally get queasy just looking at that photograph of NY construction workers eating their lunch up on a beam. It was a very cool view up there.

That must be a strange sensation, standing on the ledge! I’m surprised that they didn’t ask people to remove their shoes to keep from scratching the glass.
I’m getting queasy just looking at this picture! Eek!
I believe there are some copyright issues with the photos on this entry. I would not like to have the FBI on my case!
I’m quite comfortable with my copyright standing on these photos. However other recent blog entries did feature another photographers’ work, fingers crossed that photographer doesn’t call in the FBI or Interpol.
