Thanksgiving feels like a season if its own, particularly this year when it filled the time between out trip to Berlin and the start of December (also my start date for something new for me, teaching a metadata class!) We had a very fun and full season.
John was in New York for work and met Isabelle and her friend ZetaMy friend Kelly from high school was in town for work and we met for breakfast last SaturdayJohn and I took a walk on the lakefront after breakfast with Kelly On Sunday we drove to Sawyer and caught this beautiful sunset. The sun is setting so far south this time of year – it sets at the bottom of the lake, right over Gary, Indiana! The woods are a very rich color, with all the leaves on the groundContemplating a very small gourdJohn got a chainsaw to chop up a tree that fell in the yard. He’s been watching safety videos and got goggles, and he’s already used it to chop up a large branch that fell during a storm. All the hobbies – painting pictures of gourds and chainsaw assembly in the dining roomWe played bingo at Out There with our friends Karen and John, and Karen won 3 games! The dune grass is really bright gold – like it’s lit up, it’s so gold.Wednesday was extremely cold and windy. That’s sunset on the horizon, a pink smudgeWe drove back to Chicago on Thursday, and we had Thanksgiving on Friday (due to Debbie flying on Thursday). Everyone agreed that a Friday Thanksgiving was something to be very grateful for! So much more ease in the schedule than on a Thursday! On Saturday we got our first big snow of the winter, I’d say around 8 inches by Sunday afternoon. Here’s John in Humboldt parkOn Thanksgiving Kalee had shown us a lot of photos that she took of her cat on her lap, and on Sunday, debbie sent me a photo of Stewie sprawled out in her legs. I painted the scene today – fur is very challenging!Miles stayed in Portland over Thanksgiving. He got new glasses, which look really nice! Meet Tulip, a very nice dog that Miles watched over the holiday weekend. Awwww Tulip!Sarah came over on Sunday to make stockings Snowman photo courtesy of SarahAunt Mart’s sewing machine is still going strong and the stockings turned out very well. Will add photos once Sarah completes them with all the fun stuff!

Great pics! I like the dining table with art & chainsaw! Who are the stockings all going to?
Sarah has a new granddaughter, Juniper! And her other son is getting married next year so the other stocking is for her new DIL. Fun project!
You had a full Thanksgiving season! Dinner with everyone was especially fun, and Mexican train dominoes after dinner!
I’m interested in the stocking-making! They look nice!
The table at the Sawyer house is so versatile! It can accommodate art and a chainsaw!
Nice glasses, Miles!
