Very excited to post beach photos now, and I’m including coastlines even if I didn’t swim there. Sounds like this librarian is comfortable establishing category rules then ignoring them!
In date visited order, not much can top a Christmas Day swim at maroubra beach! Lifeguards in Santa hats and perfect water and sand for jumping in the waves. Then, the next day we went on a bush walk with Peter and Susie and finished with a swim at little congwong beach. That water was absolutely perfect for swimming – calm and just a bit cool.

The trip that Colette, Rory and I took to Manly also included beach time! We had done great splashing in waves there, and the scene was lively and fun.
Other direction geographically and crowds wise, we also took a trip to the Royal National Park south of Sydney. We walked through some different landscapes down to the beach, and over toward a rock pool that was both enticing but scary, since there were a lot of warnings posted about it being cut off at high tide. We played it safe and turned back, with Rory very helpfully sharing the news with other park visitors, letting them know the risks of proceeding! The beach there was beautiful, very pristine and remote. And on our last day we had as Colette mentioned a very blustery walk at Henry Head. Really nice coast and more veins in the rocks!

Miles and I also had a really nice swim at old fav Clovelly, and various combinations of us enjoyed the classic walks that never disappoint on stretches from bondi to maroubra. I think I was too in the moment to take photos of those! Many thanks to Colette, Colman and Rory for a great end to 2022 and start to 2023!
