Sub Zero Chicago

Its been a really cold, snowy February in Chicago, with it rarely getting above freezing, and spending a lot of time in the 0f or -15c zone! But we still try to get out everyday and our finding our COVID19 facemasks to be quite the lifesaver when it comes to keeping warm!

Today we decided to go downtown and check out the lake and it was really worth it. As far as the eye could see, the lake was pretty frozen! This was the view looking out towards the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium.

Here’s the view looking North!

Needless to say, we pretty much had the lake front to ourselves and it was really nice to be able to walk around Millenium Park and see the usual sights empty except for all the snow!

No one had bothered to shovel the snow around Buckingham Fountain, so that was a lot of work to walk through!

While we felt pretty hardy going outside for a walk, but we were really impressed with one person’s snow sculpture of baby Yoda from Star Wars!

All lots of fun, but looking forward to a balmy 32f/0c next weekend!

    1. They’re Canadian! Having said that they are very waterproof but not lined with too much warm stuff so I was sure to put on my warmest socks for this outing. All told we were toasty everywhere except right around our eyes!
