Getting ready for the Texas Transfer! Liam spent a busy couple of days getting ready for the drive to Houston, renting an apartment, buying a car, and buying some shirts for work (probably the most stressful of the three – what do corrosion engineers wear to work?).
Kat volunteered to drive down with Liam, so before they all headed off, we had once last taste of Chicago, heading up to Papa Cache’s on Division for some great Puerto Rican chicken!
Once all that was done, they headed off on the first leg of the trip, down to Urbana Champaign in Illinois to pack the last of Liam’s things from his college apartment, then a long day driving to Marshall, Texas; and then the final leg to Houston, giving Liam a good week to get set up before starting work next Wednesday. Looking forward to sharing photos of Liam’s new place soon!
Good luck Liam! Hope you both had a smooth drive. The reference to Puerto Rican chicken made me wonder if there’ll be many differences food-wise living in Houston versus Chicago? I’m presuming still lots of bbq and Mexican food options??
Also having now looked at a map of where Houston is (!), I didn’t realise it was so close to the coast and also just a leisurely 3hr drive from Dallas Fort Worth airport for any transiting Australians you happen to know!! Looking at the map really made me feel like I need to brush up on my southern geography!
