Snowy Mountains

As part of our trip to Australia, myself and Colman had an opportunity to go hiking in the Snowy Mountains, camping overnight along the way.

Despite being quiet warm, there was a surprising amount of snow still on the trails, making for some very slippy sections, but it did a really great job highlighting the alpine landscape very well!

But overall the trails were really well maintained, which made for some really nice hiking among some breathtaking views

Three key highlights for me, the dead tree forests of Ghostgum trees, reaching Mt Kosciusko (Austrailia’s highest mountain at 2.2k meters) and watching the sunrise on our campsite.

  1. Beautiful panoramas in the Snowy Mountains! Interesting name, Kosciuszko. I looked it up because there’s a small town in Mississippi with that name, only spelled without the “z.” Turns out, there’s a monument in honor of Thaddeus Kosciuszko on Northerly Island in Chicago! Apparently he’s a Polish war hero from the American Revolution who defended Poland/Lithuania against the Russians and Prussians.
