Paonia and the Wiseharts

After leaving Telluride, we drove north and east through mountains and desert mesas to arrive at our friends the Wisehart’s home in Paonia. It was great to see them! We arrived on Christmas Day and spent the next several days hanging out and getting to know their new home and meeting their friends, eating and drinking many local specialties and generally catching up.

From the room that John, Miles and I were in, the floor to ceiling windows gave a quite amazing view. In the morning when the sun came up over the mountains, this is what I informally called the “sunrise alarm clock.” Not one that you mind waking up to at all!

Amelia and Erin at “The Rev” during the 4-6 pm meeting time. The Revolution is a local brewery that has a tasting room / pub across the street in the town of Paonia, and locals gather to enjoy the local brew and meet up in the late afternoon before going to get dinner. We hear that in summer with the outside seating and music it’s really lovely.

Panorama of the great room, which may be kinda confusing with the distortion, but showing the fireplace at one end and the entry to the kitchen at the other.

  1. Looks like a great location. Interested to hear how your friends ended up living there or is it just a holiday house they have?

  2. What an interesting place your friends holiday home is located.
It must have been lovely to see the local small producers with their various products.

  3. What a beautiful home your friends have in Paonia! Looks like you enjoyed a great visit!

  4. They moved out there to set up a guest house, they rent out the main rooms in the summer/fall (retreating to a wing of the house themselves) then get to enjoy it all the rest of the year, nice set up!
