Miles completed his science fair project today. He chose a computer science project this year, and for the project he wrote a program in the Python programming language that will play rock papers scissors against a human opponent. Here are some shots of his board, which he will display at school over the next few weeks. He’ll also do a demonstration of the program at school (note to opponents: may the odds be ever in your favor!)

The reason myself and Miles were able to get to C2E2 was Liam’s volunteering at the Nerdist booth on Friday. Here he is with Dru Dence, a woman I work with, who helped organize the whole thing!

Liam volunteered at a comic and movie convention that earned him a weekend pass that myself and miles were Amee to take advantage off. We saw Dot Com from the sit com 30 Rock, loss of people dressed up as super heroes, a live quiditch game from the Harry potter series and Maggie and Glynn from our favorite TV show The Walking Dead

Miles got invited to a paintball party with his friend from school Sanjay. He along with Sanjay’s family had a great day and all enjoyed avoiding paintball shots in urban, jungle and even armageddon settings

We got John a bike repair stand for his birthday. Now it will be easier than ever for him to repair all our bikes! Happy birthday, john!

Miles did a great job on his history fair project, titled “1916 Easter Rising to Irish Independence.” This week the kids brought their boards to school and presented their projects to 3 judges. There was also a history fair open house evening, with more presenting and a whole lot of parents in attendance, and then a chance to present the projects to their classes. Miles was complimented for his comprehensive knowledge about his topic and his enthusiasm, and also his ability to present without ever turning his back to his audience (a skill he credits Sam at Lincoln Park Cultural…
