• Merry Christmas from Telluride!

We had a great day skiing in telluride. I am mostly using my other camera but wanted to show a few iPhone pics from today and yesterday. The ski tree! Me and miles at the sunshine lift. Different reactions to our first gondola ride. One of the extremely cool things about telluride is the network of free gondolas that can be used to get around. So in addition to ski lifts and runs, there are gondolas you can walk up to and take to get dinner or whatever. Here Liam enjoys a gondola ride back from getting pizza and miles…

  • Saturday Morning Physics

Today was the last Saturday Morning Physics class for Liam out at Fermilab. We are so lucky to live within driving distance of a National Laboratory, no less one that has this really cool program for students! Liam has been going out to the class every Saturday morning for a couple of months now, and each class has a lecture on a topic (physics-related) then a tour of part of the facility. And the facility is really amazing. Fermilab takes up about 10 square miles and even has bison on the grounds! It also has a lot of art —…

  • Happy Birthday Madeline!

Madeline turned 1 today! I understand she’s all tired out and sound asleep after a big day that included a bike ride to a park and lots of time at the playground, as well as skyping with all of her grandparents, but a big happy birthday to such a sweet little girl! XOXOXO Maddie! Readers may remember the pull toy doggie that Barry and Frankie gave Liam years ago and was a big hit with both Liam and Miles. Look, Madeline has her own pull doggie now!

  • Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with Mom and Dad visiting from Kansas City. On Thanksgiving day, with John at home keeping an eye on the turkey in the smoker, Mom, Dad and I went to the Garfield Park Conservatory.  Exotic plants in the Palm House Wow, someone was very dedicated to wade into a fountain and create this message out of pennies and dimes! Mom and Dad in the Fern Room The fish in the pond in the Aroid House have gotten really big! And they come up and beg for food like carp (which I guess they are?…

  • Miles in fancy clothes and glasses

Miles attended a school friend’s bar mitzvah on Saturday and we thought it would be nice to document him all dressed up in nice clothes. Also, I’m not sure if everyone has seen him in his glasses? He doesn’t wear them except for school so we don’t see him in glasses all that often.

  • New couch!

Our new couch arrived and we really love it.     Next, a new ottoman should arrive in a week or so, and the coffee table will go. The new furniture really calls for new paint color on the walls — I’m thinking a gray like what is in the dining room would look nice.

  • Recliners

Our odyssey into a land of new furniture has begun. We received 2 armchair recliners on Friday and have already spent a lot of time reading with our feet up!

  • Last day of summer camp

With tomorrow being the fall equinox in the northern hemisphere (happy vernal equinox to readers down under!) it seemed a good time to post photos from Liam’s last day of work as a camp counselor and Miles’s last day at summer camp. These photos were taken just a few days before we left for the river trip so I never had a chance to post them. Summer camp at Lincoln Park Cultural Center finishes off with a big show, featuring performance by the different age groups. Miles’s group performing their first dance of the show. Miles is in the back…
