Early in our trip we visited Howth one day and Trinity another. While Liam and Robert walked all the way around the head of Howth, Miles, John and I did part of the walk and met them along the way. Beautiful day! This sculpture by Pomodoro is of interest because another of his sculptures is at the University of Chicago (see this blog post: http://chicago-outdoor-sculptures.blogspot.ie/2009/08/grande-disc.html)

We had a great time at Kathleen’s birthday dinner in town on Friday evening. We met at the Cliff Townhouse near Stephen’s Green, a very nice choice by Barry and Frankie. It was a lovely evening with a lot of fun and delicious food. We missed you, Colette and Colman! We had a graduation party for Liam and Ellen on the Sunday after graduation, and it went really well. The weather turned out great and the new back yard configuration worked well, and we had some good tacos from Big Star Tacos. All good… but I didn’t get any photos! Thanks to both Sarah and Gladys for sending me photos of Liam and me on the day!

I’m a bit behind on blog posts, but have a few graduation photos to share. Liam’s graduation a few weeks ago was really nice! He was commended in the program for having a large number of service hours due to all his volunteer work at Lincoln Park and other places over the years. Afterwards we had some time for a bit of mingling in the lobby of Arie Crown Theater. Here’s Liam with his friends Sebi and Anastasia. Check out the orange balloon growing out of Liam’s head! Last night was the Whitney Young Prom (like the Debs in Ireland), and Liam and Ellen went with 6 other friends. These kids are so nice, organized, creative in their planning, and they also clean up real well! Liam and I left home at about 4:20 and went to the Groves’ house. We took photos in their back garden. Then Jeanne and I drove with Liam and Ellen to Margaret’s house, where all of the other kids except Jeron had gathered, and we took some more photos there. Cynthia, Liam and Miles got up early on Sunday morning (5:45) to bike the drive. This is an Annual event where Lakeshore Drive is shut down and cyclists cycle up-and-down the lakefront in Chicago. Unlike other years that we have done this, the weather this year was perfect! This is Liam and miles getting ready to get started.
