After a very wet night we got to the durangno silverton train this morning.  The train took us through some incredible scenery, we’ll upload those photos later, and pulled into Silverton, an old western mining town that has been incredibly preserved, and looks like it came straight from the set…

After four lovely days with the kings at their cabin in the alpine meadows of new mexico, we struck out on our own today through great scenery arriving at durango where we will camp tonight before taking the train to silverton tomorrow which is two miles above sea level

One of the nicest parts of this part of the vacation was how little there was to do, so we ended up relaxing while the kids made their own fun.  Particularly fun was the can crusher in the cabin, the closest we had to an electronic toy.  Here we are…

These are a few of the areas around Andrea’s parents’ cabin in Northern New Mexico, just outside of Chama.  The lake, river and valley’s were all incredibly beautiful and within short walking distance, really beautiful place.

Wandering around the meadows you came across a whole host of flowers and mushrooms, very beautifull. We even encountered a long tailed horned toad, which is pretty rare and really unusual looking.

One of the highlights of the trip for Miles was making friends with Andrea’s grandparents dog Tipolito, whom Miles would play with endlessly.  Miles was worried when we got to the cabin when he heard reports that Eagles could sweep down and fly off with Tipolito, so whenever Tipolito would…
