This is our backyard, rather than Miller Beach, but a nice pic of Dylan, Miles, John and Liam.

OK, on to Miller! Also in July, we spent a weekend with Mike and Andrea in Miller Beach. The weather was perfect and we had a great time there swimming in the lake, hanging out at their house, and exploring the local area.

Visiting the turkeys at Chellberg Farm.

And other fancy poultry!

Wayfinding with poetry

Not sure if I’ve shown photos of Mike and Andrea’s house, but here it is. It’s super cute and surprisingly large inside! And available for several weeks over the summer on airbnb!

I truly love the outdoor shower.

Their neighbors have a chicken coop.

On Sunday morning we walked to nearby Marquette Park. This sign shows that Marquette Park is at the southernmost part of Lake Michigan. It also gives a lot of other fun facts about Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes, like this one: the Great Lakes system contains 20% of the fresh water on the planet. Impressive!

Also in Marquette Park there are some monuments to aviation. The first plane and statue here are to honor the Tuskegee Airmen.

And the second is to honor Octave Chanute, who developed a glider that the sign explains had a direct influence on the Wright Brothers and therefore aviation.

The park has a beach on Lake Michigan and also an inland lagoon.

And a very nice cultural center building.

We took the residential route home, which I always like because you can do some Hoosier Home spotting. These are such charming little houses. They have such nice, clean lines and shapes.

Not a Hoosier Home but also cute!

Also in Miller, there’s this fun set of signs.

And a nice patio at the Captain’s House restaurant.

Thanks for this photo go out to the people in front of us at the Chicago Skyway who couldn’t get their toll paid. Love the style of the Skyway! I’m sure there would be more photos of it if there was an easier way to take pics out there with like 10 lanes of traffic in each direction converging on the toll plaza.

That’s funny about the tollway! Nice to have such great friends with a beach house… looks like a lovely spot!
