Miles’s history fair project

Miles did a great job on his history fair project, titled “1916 Easter Rising to Irish Independence.” This week the kids brought their boards to school and presented their projects to 3 judges. There was also a history fair open house evening, with more presenting and a whole lot of parents in attendance, and then a chance to present the projects to their classes. Miles was complimented for his comprehensive knowledge about his topic and his enthusiasm, and also his ability to present without ever turning his back to his audience (a skill he credits Sam at Lincoln Park Cultural Center with instilling in him in drama class). There were some really great projects done, especially impressive since they, as 5th graders, were trying their hands at history fair for the first time.

  1. Oh & good to see you took the story right up to the Treaty… it can be a complicated time to get your head around.

  2. Thanks, everyone! Yes, Colette, we all became a lot more familiar with that time period. Miles did a great job learning a complicated topic. News just in yesterday– his project was one of 4 chosen from his class to advance to the next level (the school-wide competition!) Will keep you posted on how that goes!

  3. Good news that Miles is one of four chosen for the school-wide competition! I’m sure he does a great job with his presentation.
