Here’s a news roundup of what cndkmen have been up to so far in February. First, we enjoyed our annual visit with Anne. New this year: no snow, not so cold at all, dinner at SoHo House, and a walk on the Bloomingdale Trail (aka the 606). Anne’s flight was delayed so we also were able to fit in a trip to the Lincoln Park Whole Foods, which really should be added to the tourist itinerary as a matter of course. Looking forward to seeing Anne and Brian this summer, when they get to see the city in bloom rather than in partial hibernation!

On our way back from the 606, I took a picture of this cool mural honoring the life of a former West Town resident. Thank you August Spies for the 8-hour work day!
Also in February, Miles went to a dance at school. Because they had to buy their tickets (in the form of wrist bands) on a school day, and there was a day off school at the end of the week before the dance, Miles had to wear a cool wristband for a couple of days. Here it is at the end of his (OK, it’s Liam’s) plaid shirt. Miles likes to go ‘shopping’ in Liam’s closet.

Ready for the dance! In Liam’s jacket!

Speedy/Roux update: We’ve kept their cage separated and that is working just fine. We let them out on the floor together and they get along well, especially if there are lots of snacks around, but it’s still a bit tense inside one cage together, without a divider. We’ll try again maybe next weekend. It takes some monitoring so their bonding has admittedly been structured around our weekend plans. But they both seem very happy. Speedy has definitely perked up since Roux moved in!

I’m sure we’ve all remarked on how hard it is to choose a perfect avocado. One night last week I both needed to start dinner and go to Junior’s and buy some avocados for dinner, so I asked Miles to go to Junior’s for me. Honestly I was thinking that it was his first time buying avocados, so who knows what they’d be like, but probably not great. Well check this out, Miles can really pick out an avocado. As close to perfect as it gets! Thanks, Miles!

Kudos all around: To Miles for lookin’ good, wearing a cool wristband for a couple of days, AND picking out a perfect avocado. To Junior’s for having a perfect avocado in stock. To August Spies for the 8-hour workday. Nice that you had a visit from Anne. Hoping that negotiations go well in regard to Speedy and Roux, but realizing there are important issues to work out, like seniority, territory, privacy, and personality differences.
Thanks! You’re right to give Junior a shout out for stocking such good avocados. Yes, Speedy and Roux have a bunch of negotiating to do, all via chirping and purring sounds, and the occasional raised haunches.
Did I tell you we had a brief avocado shortage a few weeks back after a storm hit Queensland and before a new crop came through in Western Australia? there were reports of people paying $7 an avocado!!
Nice suit Miles/Liam! And Anne is so covered up its hard to know for sure that it’s her!
Great to see you looking so well Miles in your new/Liam’s suit.
