Lane Tech prom

Lane Tech had one of the 11 proms in the city last night, with another 10 or so held on Friday. It really is prom season! Miles and his friends gathered at the Field Notes HQ, very nicely hosted by Spencer’s parents, for photos before the event. They are such a nice group of kids, and they all looked great all dressed up for the event! Here’s Miles, Spencer and Dylan chatting before the pictures.

At this point, Miles looks sadly at the corsage he brought for his date, Sachi, who hasn’t arrived. OK, this was posed… she’d texted to say she was on her way, but her late arrival gave the afternoon some narrative tension!

With no date to pose with, Miles had nothing to do but agree to a picture with his parents 🙂

Gage was also late, but once he arrived the group decided to go on outside to start photos, with Sachi joining when she could. The rush was because Alanna is on student council and needed to be at the event on time. Here they are goofing off while getting lined up.

Then… Sachi’s Uber arrived! Miles had made a sign asking her to go to prom but had not actually promposed yet, so his plan was to prompose at the pictures.

Sachi loved the sign and said yes!

Then it was really, really time to go, and they headed off to the Sheraton downtown in 2 Ubers. They all came back to our house afterwards and the report was that the event was really good! There was a sit down dinner served for all 900 kids who attended – they were shocked at how a catering operation even handled all that. Spencer reported that the servers even poured the dressing onto their salads (his mom runs a catering business so I think this kind of detail was not lost on him.) Alanna was involved in the music playlist which they all reported was great, and they said the DJ was really good. Glad the kids all had such a good time!
