Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with Mom and Dad visiting from Kansas City. On Thanksgiving day, with John at home keeping an eye on the turkey in the smoker, Mom, Dad and I went to the Garfield Park Conservatory. Image

Wow, someone was very dedicated to wade into a fountain and create this message out of pennies and dimes!

The fish in the pond in the Aroid House have gotten really big! And they come up and beg for food like carp (which I guess they are? Pretty carp?) Very colorful in there now with the fish and the Chihuly glass sculptures.

We went out to Flying Saucer for breakfast on Sunday morning, yum! It was also the morning of the Toys for Tots motorcycle parade along Western Avenue, so we were glad to have the excuse to stay on our side of Western!

Good times I don’t have photos of include having a great dinner, conversation and a round of Wits and Wagers with the West family joining us on Thanksgiving. On Friday we went to Hyde Park to see my office, have a look at some Middle Eastern artifacts at the Oriental Institute, and, keeping with the theme, have lunch at a middle eastern restaurant. On Saturday we went up to Evanston to visit with long time family friends Bruce and Sandi Johnson. Thanks for coming up to Chicago for Thanksgiving, cndkmen had a great time!
