Garden update

Keep in mind these plants still have a lot of growing to do, but here are some shots of the garden in its current state. It’s been working out very well that we left the middle area empty of plants, and that’s where people pull up chairs when we’re all gathered in the garden, and the patio with table can take another table as well, seating 8-10 people.

You’ll note the blue recycling bin in the corner, our ward got our recycling bins, it’s been great so far! They pick up the blue bins every other week.

Also amazing to me is that the plants under the tree were chosen because they need neither light nor water, and they are doing really well. I was very surprised. The bushier ones are oak leaf hydrangea which, despite their name, are native to Illinois and don’t need much water.

We need more mulch, weeds are getting through everywhere!06122007001
