Rodrigo and crew did a fantastic and “freakishly fast” job drywalling then priming the walls. It’s starting to look like a living space now–though it also reminds me of a gallery mid-installation. Fresh paint smells and white walls. This shows the view looking toward the back from the windows.
We have a really cool closet under the basement stairs–with a little teeny closet in the back. It’s the cutest closet ever.
Closeup of the teeny closet
Looking toward the front. One panel is not drywalled yet because a pipe in there needs to be replaced still.
We had the ducts left exposed rather than building soffits around them. They did a really interesting job of kinda leaving them out and kinda building them in. There should be lots of headroom for Liam, even if he continues to grow taller.
This is the bottom of the stairs–there will be a window to the outside where the plywood is, a door where the big opening is, and an old recycled window where the empty hole is.
Bottom of the stairs looking up. There will be another small storage space halfway up the stairs. See the stairs at the top center? That is the underside of the stairs going to the top floor. It’s confusing in the picture but very cool in person!
Here’s a closeup of that storage area on the stairs. It will have doors on it. And the carpenter suggested I get in there and pull all the staples out of the floor. Fun for me for Friday!
It all looks very nice! Good to see it taking shape! That little bitty closet is so interesting. Could be a good place for a small person to hide. It will come in handy if any leprechauns ever come to visit~ 🙂
