Hang on, a few explanations will make this all very clear. First, the Daily News is a part of Miles’s day at school. Each day they write up a “Daily News” sheet then read them out to the class. They bring the paper home every night. On this particular day, Miles wrote he was proud of his brother. Miss Pantoja (actually it was Mrs Acevedo, the school assistant principal) had a second cousin visiting from Ireland and Liam was chosen to be his host for the day. “He will be working with my brother” because Liam was taking him to all his classes.
The visit was a huge success. Killian is 11 years old (going on 12, he told the class) and from Limerick. He talked to the class a bit about Ireland and Liam was essential for some translations. One student asked how much do chips cost in Ireland and Killian answered you can get a pound of chips for a euro, which was shocking to all the students who thought he was talking about potato chips / crisps. Liam also reported that there was a lot of confusion when he was asked about sports and soccer, football, American football, and Irish football got mixed up together. He also created some interest by mentioning that Ireland’s president is a woman.
Liam really enjoyed the day, looks like he has a future as a cultural ambassador!

Miles, you wrote a nice report about how Liam took Killian with him to his classes! I’m sure the other kids who have not been to Ireland learned a lot about how some of the names for things are different.
I think it’s so great that in Ireland it seems to be okay for the president to be a woman! I think the U.S. is WAY too much of a patriarchy! – Mom
Well done Miles/Liam. Ye might get a trip to Limerick yet.
