After arriving home late on Sunday night (at midnight for Liam and me, since we spent a lot of quality time in the Dallas airport due to delays on Sunday), we decided to open presents on Monday morning. As Miles said, it would be a better Christmas morning experience. Santa, the elves and family were very nice to us!
Santa brought the gift of molecular gastronomy to our house this year, with a cooking kit for Liam and Miles and a mixology kit for John.
Santa also heard that Miles outgrew his pajamas and brought him some University of Chicago branded sleepwear!
Liam received some fancy shaving equipment from Santa, including a shaving brush and some oils.
Colette was my Kris Kringle and sent me a teapot very similar to one that I spotted in Australia and really liked. Thanks for tracking that down and sending it, Colette, it is a lovely design and I’ve enjoyed lots of cups of tea out of it already!
Thanks to Nana and Grandpa for the science t-shirts for Liam and Miles. Here’s Miles with a Pluto: Revolve in Peace t-shirt 🙂
Barry had John as his Kris Kringle and sent over some books that John is looking forward to reading. The first, “The Smartest Kids in the World” may be a joint biography of Liam and Miles (despite Liam’s facial expression in this photo) 🙂
Colette sent Miles a t-shirt related to one of Miles’s favorite podcasts: My brother, my brother and me (MBMBAM).
Oops, slightly out of order, but here’s Liam with his science related t-shirt — that graphic work of genius, the periodic table of the elements! Thanks, Nana and Grandpa! спасибо, Dmitri Mendeleev!
Here’s John with another great book from Barry!
Other awesome gifts that didn’t get photos taken include a generous set of cloth napkins from Nana and Grandpa, Amazon vouchers for Liam and Miles from Granny and Grandad, a new set of wooden spoons for me, Dark Matter Coffee t-shirt for John. Also, Miles led me, with my eyes closed, into the small bedroom off the dining room to show me his gift to me — he cleaned it up! That room gets very messy so that was no easy feat, thanks Miles!

Glad you all liked your gifts. Cindy – your teapot is a little bigger than the one you liked over here but glad you liked it. You look very similar in that picture to the picture we took with you at that cafe here (trust me – I trawled back through your blog to find it!)
That was the idea! This is the first picture: http://cndkmen.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/2012_australia_290.jpg
You all had a nice Christmas!
