Christmas Day

We arrived in Sydney on Christmas Eve and spent the day settling into our rental home in Clovelly, taking in a big delivery of groceries Colette had organized, naps for some, and having a first swim at Clovelly. Christmas morning Santa brought a full night’s sleep for everyone, lots of toys from Rory, and a beautiful sunny day in Sydney!

Kathleen and Paddy stayed at Colette and Colman’s overnight to spend Christmas morning with Rory (despite our assurances that Liam and Miles are full of delight and wonder on Christmas morning too!) Then they all came over to ours, which is a very nice quick way of saying “our place” that I think I might just adopt.  The biggest Christmas gift hit has to be the Play Doh Poop Troup set, where you can use brown play dough to make poop shapes and then put features onto the poop – kinda like a poop meets play doh meets Mr Potato Head.

It’s very important to swim on Christmas Day, so we went to Clovelly Beach. Clovelly is a very long inlet from the sea, with a beach at one end and an opening out into the sea at the other. It’s a very safe beach, which is an important consideration since other beaches in the Eastern Suburbs can have rip tides, jelly fish and other dangerous elements at certain times, causing the beaches to be closed.

Bit out of order but here are Colette, Colman and Rory in their matching Christmas pajamas!

This beach tent is really cool inside, making it a very nice respite from the heat out on the beach.

Now this one is not out of order – the Poop Troop just made a number of appearances throughout the day! Here’s Liam, Kat and Rory playing with it. Rory has taken to calling Kat “Kat the person,” which is pretty cute.

After swimming, we went back to the house and showered (important after a swim because Clovelly has a way of leaving a lot of seaweed on a person!) then made Christmas dinner. Here we are on the back porch of ours.

After dinner, Colette, Colman and Rory took the bus back to theirs (get it, like ours but theirs) and after the early start and very exciting day, Rory fell asleep.

We took a walk down to the rocks just past Clovelly to see the Tasman Sea in twilight. Turns out it looks good in all lighting conditions!
