Day 3 at the coast started early with John catching the bus from tillamook back to Portland for a flight back to Chicago so he could attend an important meeting on Thursday. The last 3 standing on this trip 😀 spent the morning at the Oceanside beach then visited the final cape in the afternoon.
Then we had some lunch and headed off for NEARBY cape meares. Showing this in a map would be a bunch of scribbles but there was a road closed and marked confusing le, and we ended up taking a very long way around to a really nice little beach that wasn’t cape meares but did have an impressive collection of driftwood.
While sitting on the log chatting, paddy spotted a state park pickup truck approaching and said we should ask them how to get to the cape. Bingo! Great suggestion, we found that Google maps is leading everyone in the wrong direction. We drove back around and got to the cape I remembered from 2019. We had a delightful walk around, viewing the lighthouse, octopus tree, and our Oceanside beach view from the north.
After the lovely outing, we relaxed at the Airbnb then went to Roseanna’s in Oceanside for dinner. They had been closed mon and Tues so we were delighted to be able to go there Wednesday! Wonderful dinner, then off for a good night sleep before flying back to Chicago on Thursday. Overall such a nice trip, see you next in Chicago! They’re calling our flight now so excellent timing!
Great pics! Looks like lots to do and see in the area and you seemed to have perfect weather! Love it when a blog and boarding line up!
I would like to ask a marine biologist if the starfish will be okay until the tide comes back in.
There is a story called “The Star Thrower” about a man who would throw the beached starfish back into the sea. That’s what raised my question.
