John and I rode our bikes to Calumet Fisheries today. It’s located at 95th street and near the lakeshore, within sight of the Chicago Skyway bridge that you take to drive from Chicago to Indiana. It was pretty cool and overcast, with either some light rain or heavy mist settling in toward the end. But we were dressed warmly so it was a very pleasant ride. On the way south, there was a strong wind at our backs, so we decided that instead of cycling 15 miles into a headwind home we took the bus, which proved to be a very good decision. Chicago buses have bike racks on the front so we put both bikes on the bus and got a very warm and dry lift back downtown.

Smoked salmon…. Mmmmm delicious!
Lots of Classic Chicago bridge design in view, here’s a bascule bridge.
I ❤️industrial buildings. Gravel hopper to left, lift bridge to right.
Turns out the mural is on the smokehouse!
I look very weird in this photo.
When we got back downtown, we went for a coffee at intelligentsia, an excellent local coffee shop.
Then back to the car at the Hancock to drive home. Very foggy day! Will have to take this trip on a sunny snd warm day soon!

What a lovely trip! THanks for revealing the beauty of it !
Is that smoked salmon on top of half an avocado or am I seeing things?
What an interesting trip-pity the weather was not more bike friendly.
I feel like I’ve had a tour. Thank you for pointing out the artistry in bridges and industrial structures. The poster is very cool.
