Bologna: food

One of the draws of Bologna was its reputation as a great food city (within a great food country!) We can confirm that the reports are true.

We went to this place twice!
Tortellini en brodo, traditional dish of tortellini in broth. Served steaming hot on a very hot day! Was counterintuitive but delicious.
Tortelloni with leeks, walnuts and saffron. Amazing.
Funny I felt kinda short in fruits and vegetables, although they were clearly available!
We went to La Prosciutteria to try the mortadella, the meat that is so linked to Bologna that it’s called ‘bologna’ elsewhere in the world. Bolognese (tomato and meat sauce with pasta) is called ragú in Italy.
La proscuitteria was really lovely
We got a charcuterie board (except I think it had an Italian name!)
Mmmmmmmortadella!
On our last day we went to the aptly named ‘Johnny’s Trattoria’
Tagliatelle and ragú
Burrata salad with a really amazing tomato sauce and anchovies

Add in some gelato and espressos and we had a very delightful bunch of meals in Bologna!
