Bike the Drive in the fog

Last Sunday we went on our first Bike the Drive, which is the Active Transportation Alliance’s annual event of riding bikes all along Lake Shore Drive. We drove our bikes to the lakefront and parked at Soldier Field. Then we rode north to Fullerton, turned around and went south to Oakland (39th Street) and turned around again, and went back up north to 18th Street. So we did the middle section of the route– you can also go all the way north to Hollywood or south to the Museum of Science and Industry at 57th Street. It was a great, albeit chilly, ride! We went about 15 miles total.

The photos of us in the slideshow were taken by professional photographers with the organizers. The photos magically appeared in our email after the race! I am most interested in how they do this–they must have image recognition software that recognizes the rider ID number and then matches that with an email address of a person registered for the event. Amazing display of photo archiving! Miles was on the ride too but there was a problem with his registration number so he was riding under a temporary number that probably wasn’t in their system.
