This post is mainly for Rory and Maddie, as we’ve had a lot of creature reports building up, so we figured it was time to tell the whole story!
First up, we’ve finally started seeing a lot of Javalinas a little pig-like creature that is native to the area, and yesterday we saw three little javalinas near where we live. They’re hard to photograph as they’re very well camouflaged, so here’s a photo we grabbed from online:

Not too long after, but what did we see sneaking around the house, but a wolf! We were able to take a blurry photo of him from the deck, and you can seem him peaking his head up at the end of our garden, probably on the look out for those tasty Javalinas! Talk about the three little pigs!

We’re curious if they’re all keeping an eye out for the mountain lion we saw about a week ago. This time, seeing it run behind a tree while John was out cycling. John gave a big shout to make sure the lion knew he was coming, and while mountain lions are pretty scared of humans, and very rarely attack, he was grateful that the lion was gone when he cycled past the tree. Here’s a dramatic reconstruction of what happened!

Having already seen a tarantula on a hike, the last creature we’re keeping an eye out for is local rattlesnakes! So far no sign, and hopefully it will stay that way!
