Home due to cold

Due to the polar vortex (hey, we kinda had enough of you 5 years ago!) miles had today and tomorrow off school, and I am working from home. John was on a business trip to Atlanta but should be back soon, in time to experience more than enough of the cold!

From this headline in this mornings paper, there does seem to be a connection between Cindy and the Kennymen and extreme weather!

Sometimes one of our plants stands out as particulary charming. This little guy living in a tea cup deserves an extra bit of attention!

Shadows from our chimney across the neighbor’s roof. super clear blue sky today!

Here’s our full set of succulents – above from the upstairs bathroom ledge and below from the kitchen. i’m leaving the twinkly lights up until the time changes!

  1. Nice post. My question is do you just have a supply of food ready for such a polar situation (perhaps this is where the beans come in!) or did you have to dash to shops last time you were out to get supplies!? Are shops open in your neighbourhood if you did go out??

    1. Good question! I had supplies this time for 2 days / 2 people, but would have shopped beforehand if not. I think junior’s is prob closed, but not sure about municipal. Ironically I am due a bean shipment but it seems stuck on a truck somewhere! Fortunately we have supplies here 😀

      1. Interesting… hope johns not too hungry when he gets back! I’ve been in a long conversation about arrangements if power goes this afternoon as we’re getting power surges in response to our 40 degree day on the coast

  2. Power surges in summer are kinda unnerving – keeping my fingers crossed you are spared! Our electricity company has a program where you can agree to have your AC cycle off if needed, and it helps them manage power usage through those surge times when the grid is really stretched. And don’t worry, there’s always pasta. And scrambled eggs!

  3. Blackout in half of eastern suburbs today (45,000 homes including Clovelly) was apparently caused by weeds and totally un-heat related 😂🙄
