John had an opportunity to visit Liam’s appartment and neighborhood in Houston this week, as part of a business trip he was taking for work. He got in before Liam was off work, so was first able to visit the museum around the corner from where Liam lives. It was a really great museum, with one installation all made up of bamboo shoots.
Once Liam got home, we first went to Liam’s favorite restaurant in his neighborhood for some great tacos and tamales.
We also got to see the “hellacious” parking situation in Houston, which by Chicago standards looked pretty good!
The other car related fact from Houston is that Liam’s sedan, which looked quiet normal sized in Chicago, finds itself in these really spacious parking spots for all of Houston’s pick up trucks.
The nicest part of Liam’s neighborhood was all the large art installations, including this one at Rice University which is about 10 minute walk from Liam’s apartment.
And this is the view from within that structure:
There is also a sculpture near where Liam lives that is made by the same guy who made the Chicago “bean” you can really see the resemblance:
All in all a really great trip, and great to see Liam settling in so well to such a very cool, but very different neighborhood!
This non-stop taco talk has got to stop! Great to see Liam’s neighbourhood and get a feel for it from a distance!
Taco talk is payback for your beach shots in January! Haha 😀
There are some really cool museums in Liam’s neighborhood!
Love the bamboo shoots/what can be done with them and the bean standing up. Seems like a very nice neighbourhood.
