Wow, the 4 years since Liam moved in to college went fast! We went down to Urbana-Champaign for his graduation yesterday. We first went to Liam’s apartment where he showed us a recent poster he worked on for his senior thesis. Thanks Miles for holding the corner down!
We got to hang out with Kat for a bit before she went to her own ceremony.
One of Liam’s friends made this great caricature of him!
We had some lunch at Liam’s place, then the Kenny side of the group headed out for a campus tour (Mary and Herb had already done a tour that morning, since they arrived separately from Kansas City). We stopped for a tea in the student union.
Saw the building where Liam’s lab is located.
And unfortunately didn’t get any other photos of campus! We then went and changed clothes at Liam’s place. It can be very humid and hot in central Illinois, and yesterday wasn’t too hot but it did feel very sticky, hence the wide ranging clothing you’re seeing us wearing. Plus it was considerably warmer there than when we left from Chicago that morning! We took some group photos across the street from Liam’s apartment.
Very breezy day! Then we went to the arena where the engineering graduation was held. They divided the engineering graduates into two batches, with about 1,000 graduates per batch. It was a lot of names to hear!
Here’s Liam walking toward the camera, about to “low-five” a friend!
After the ceremony, John and Miles went to meet Liam at the grad exit. Here he is as an official graduate!
Proud mom moment!
Congratulations Liam on your Graduation day! It really does feel like yesterday when we saw the photos of your new college home. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!
Congratulations Liam! Looks like you all had a lovely day!
