Thanks to winter storm Mateo, we all had various versions of a snow day today. Miles was off school, I worked from home and John came home early after a heroic ride to work in his fat tire bike!

This storm was called the 2,000 mile storm because of its length across the US.
John (also heroically) shoveled before going to work.

It snowed all night last night and I have yet to hear an official explanation but the sky was really bright even very late and early. Here’s the sky about 15 mins before sunrise, way brighter than a usual cloudy day in winter.

Other snowy scenes from our windows and my midday walk to humboldt park

Thank you park district for shoveling all around and through the park!

Last weekend we went to en hakkore, our favorite poke bowl restaurant, and miles got a Spider-Man taco. I think it’s a whole crab in a taco. He thinks it was tasty!

Brrr! Funny to think of Humboldt park so cold when last time we were there we were swotting flies away!
Inspiring pictures about how to embrace winter! That was more than a mere walk to Humboldt Park. It was a walk to the heart of the park! Too bad the food truck was closed, but oh well it wasn’t exactly Mediterranean diet anyway. Speaking of food, it looks like Miles’s taco might be capable of devouring him if he waits too long. Great effort by John to shovel steps and walk and ride to work on his fat tire bike! Fresh snow looks so pretty.
