Cannes and Ireland

I just wanted to share a few photos from the recent trip to Cannes and Ireland this year.

As usual, Cannes was very glam, with lots of star presentations from folks like Helen Miriam, Ira Glass and Halle Berry who I ended up seated quiet close too (while being interviewed by the editor of Teen Vogue)

As is usual, FCB had a boat on which to conduct client meetings and everyone agreed it was the nicest boat that we’d ever have (not that I’m complaining).  Here’s a picture of the top of the boat where we had a breakfast meeting one morning!

But best of all, FCB Chicago, won 12 Lions this year, which makes us the most awarded agency in Chicago!  Here are the folks getting the award on stage and us enjoying a celebratory dinner afterwards!

Then it was off for a quick trip to Ireland, where we had quiet a few really great days of weather, meeting up for a BBQ at Barry’s, going into Dublin with Mum and Dad (with a nice lunch in the Shelborne), walking around Howth and Deer Park (where there was a great smell of wild garlic), and down to High Rock in Portmarnock.

A nice view from Howth harbor with  the fog coming down from the summit

High rock (with James off to the side)

Most importantly of all, I had a chance to visit Dan, Nan, Katie and Patrick.  In many ways it was a very sad visit, coming so soon after Veronica passing away, but it was really inspiring to see how well they were all doing, helping each other out, and sharing so many great memories of Veronica.

Here’s a nice picture for Dan and Patrick

And here’s one of myself and Katie

All in all a really great trip, with the added surprise at the end, that while flying back to the US, we passed over Greenland on a sunny day, which the pilot got very excited about, because 99% of the time its covered with clouds.  Here’s what I was able to see out of my window:

  1. Great photos! So nice that you got a visit to Ireland on your way home from Cannes. Years ago on one of our flights over Greenland, I saw the land, too. It was all ice and snow then, it looked like a huge ice sheet with mountain peaks. May have been a different part of Greenland, I don’t know, but it was summer. I’ve heard that the Greenland ice sheet is melting, and your photo affirms that.
