We all had the day off today for the 4th of July, and while Miles didn’t want to get up terribly early, John and I decided to take a bike trip north. We drove to the start of the off-road trail that leads to the Chicago Botanic Garden, and cycled from there. Some takeaways: the trail is really nice and at 40 miles round trip it was a good distance without overdoing it, the Cook County Forest Preserve areas we cycled through are really great – all full of people celebrating the holiday, and the lunch options at the Botanic Garden were also great. It reminded us what a great place the gardens are, and how much Rory is going to enjoy seeing the model train there!

Happy 4th July! Rory will definitely enjoy the model train!
Oh and did u know it’s 8 years since we saw the 4th July fireworks with you!
We were just trying to figure that out last night, how long it’s been! All the amateur fireworks are going off now, and there are more at navy pier tonight (but we’re staying in! Will keep Sydney NYE as the last fireworks experience for a bit longer!
The Facebook Memories feature is how I knew it was 8years! Enjoy all the firecrackers!
Sounds like a fun day! Great photo of the two of you.
