These are a few pictures of Liam’s diorama that he made for his class project on Native Americans. Liam chose to do his project on the ancestral publoen peoples at Mesa Verde, where we visited in August. It shows the publoens tending to their corn fields, pumpkins and domesticated turkeys on top of the mountains, while living in their cliff dwellings (you can see the photographs of these dwellings in the centre of the diorama). The bottom of the diorama shows the publoens “kiva,” the spiritual centre of every publoen home and where they believed all live originated. They used ladders to get in and out of the kiva through a small hole in the roof of the kiva. Really great stuff!
