We saw 15 + bald eagles at starved rock today having abandoned a trip to mathieson park which looked stunning but was too icy to jump on the rivers stepping stones. Despite the 15f cold, the local birding group set up binoculars for great views of the birds, seeing the whites of their eyes. Also great was the mile hike into the park via trails vs the usual entrance.
Good to see those scenes again.
