While on a business trip to San Francisco last week, I had some downtime, so I decided to meet up with an old friend from our San Francisco office, Matthew Wilcox. While advertising is full of English planners for some reason, there aren’t a lot of Irish planners, so myself and Matthew (from Wexford) try to fly the flag as much as possible.
While I thought we’d meet up for Dinner with Matthew and his wife Patricia, Matthew suggested a “short” bike ride beforehand. Little did I know that a short ride in San Francisco, means a 18 mile cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge and 2000 feet up the hills surrounding the bay. I’m not sure which was worse, the effort required to cycle up some very steep climbs or the terror of going down very, very steep roads on the edges of cliff faces! But all in all it was a great way of working up an appetite for dinner, where we were rewarded with amazing views, all less than 45 minutes cycle from San Francisco, an amazing city. See below, myself and Matthew, the view looking down on the Golden Gate Bridge, and the view from the bridge as the sun sets over the bay on our return.

That was quite a bicycle ride! We visited the Golden Gate Bridge once, and the wind was too strong to even walk across. Glad you were able to enjoy the experience.
Some “short” bike ride alright-sounds fantastic though.
