Great food in the Antipodes

You know how it is, on a vacation with so much great food, only some dishes get photographed. This is my salad from a very cool place in Surrey Hill, where we went for lunch one day.

And this potato lookalike is, somehow, ice cream inside a crispy potato skin. Magic! Delicious!

Miles’s sandwich at the place in Surrey Hill. He ordered a sandwich from the menu then saw other people getting these purple creations and wanted to change his order. Luckily he didn’t ask to do that because it turns out he had ordered the purple sandwich!

It didn’t feel like a Dr Seuss-like experience when we were there, but the photos are now looking very fantastic and other worldly. Here are John’s pancakes. Green pancakes! They were really good, though it’s very hard to guess what they might have been made of.

I really can’t even start to list every great meal we had. Some standouts include the Greek restaurant at The Spot in Randwick with Colette and Colman while Liam and Miles babysat Rory, amazingly fresh fish at A Fish Called Coogee, Christmas dinner (of course!), and a really nice take on the corn fritter with other vegetables at Chalk.

  1. Everything looks exotic and delicious! The green pancakes look thick like English muffins. Wonder if I’m looking at them right.
