After breakfast we drove a short distance to the Pfeiffer Beach. A small and winding 2-mile long road connects State Route 1 to the beach, but we were told the parking at the bottom was full so we would have to walk down. So we did and enjoyed watching the wild waves and crazy rock formations at the beach. Then, dreading the hot 2-mile climb back up the road, John decided to go find a ride up and then drive down and get us. By this point a whole informal ride share system had developed and people were offering rides up the hill in their cars, vans and pickup trucks. John easily got a ride up and was able to bring another family down (they were from Nepal!) and then picked us up.
We saw what I think is wind shaping of the earth cliffs in several places along the coast.
Pfeiffer Beach is known for having purple sand!
Back along the drive south, there were more beautiful views on the way to our destination, San Luis Obispo.

These pics remind me of a cross between the Great Ocean Road and the Coromandel in NZ. You’d think the Nepalese family would have been up for a trek!!
Fantastic photos! It’s nice that an informal ride-sharing started up.
